ENG254 Survey of American Literature: Post-Civil War
Students read and study a variety of classic literary texts written in America between 1870 and 2000.Students read a variety of genres including poetry, short stories, novels-in-stories, and novels. Students learn how literature is both aproduct of the history and culture that produced it as well as a commentary on it. Special emphasis on understanding how gender,race, class, immigration, and war have shaped the later years of American Literature.
