Steps for Admission
Step 1: Complete The Online Application For Admission
The first step in the admissions process is to complete the online admissions application. Go to www.clatsopcc.edu/apply and select from Degree Seeking Student or Non-Degree Seeking Student options.
Step 2: Placement Options
CCC has three options to help students and their advisors select which classes are the best fit:
Send A Transcript
CCC will accept high school and college transcripts and GED results from the last seven years. If classes are older than seven years, it doesn’t mean they no longer apply! Take a look at option 3, directed self placement for more information.
Please send transcripts to admissions@clatsopcc.edu. For admissions purposes, unofficial transcripts are fine but prospective students who wish to transfer college credit from another institution will need to request an official transcript.
Take the ACCUPLACER test
All ACCUPLACER Tests are currently remote. Register by emailing testingcenter@clatsopcc.edu. A laptop or desktop computer and Zoom, which can be downloaded here, are required.
Please let us know if access to a computer are needed and we can make alternate arrangements.
The ACCUPLACER test costs $15. Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make your scheduled test! If you do not take the test at your scheduled time and we do not hear from you, the charge cannot be waived.
The ACCUPLACER test helps identify preparedness in writing, reading, and math. ACCUPLACER results are used for academic placement purposes, rather than to deny admission to the college. Students are strongly encouraged to access online sample questions / practice tests before taking the ACCUPLACER. There is also a free ACCUPLACER Study App available from College Board.
The placement assessment consists of three basic skill areas:
- Writing (punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, strategy, organization, and style);
- Reading (ability to read and understand short and extended passages);
- Mathematics (ability to understand and work with whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and basic word problems involving arithmetic; an additional algebra assessment may also be provided to determine appropriate class placement).
The ACCUPLACER is an untimed test. Students seeking testing accommodations should contact Student Access Services, studentaccess@clatsopcc.edu
Directed Self Placement Assessment
For those who do not wish to take the Accuplacer, or whose credentials are over seven years old or would prefer to discuss their educational background in person, please schedule an appointment by clicking here or calling the Office of Admissions at (503) 338-2417. Please plan to bring academic records and test results to the appointment if possible.
Step 3: Attend Orientation and Advising
Having completed the steps above and gaining admission to the college, students will receive an email with a link to orientation and intake advising options. During orientation, they will learn about financial aid, registering for classes, college programs, support services, personal safety, and student rights – critical information to prepare to begin classes and to get the most from their college experience.
Readmission
If students have attended Clatsop before, but have been absent for one or more years, contact the First Stop to update their status as an admitted student. Additional steps may be required.
