Audit, Withdrawal, and Incomplete

Audit

Audit status allows students to attend class without the responsibility of a grade. This means that when auditing a class, no credit(s) will apply. Financial aid does not qualify for audit classes, and thus cannot be applied.

Audit does not contribute toward full-time student status, nor does it meet full-time status for veterans or students receiving financial aid.

Full participation in class activities are expected. Instructors are under no obligation to grade or record student work. A grade of “AU” will be recorded on official student transcripts.

Fees for auditing a class are the same as normal class enrollment fees. Students receiving financial aid who wish to switch from a credit class to an audit class must contact the Financial Aid office. Repayment of aid funds will be required.

Withdrawal

Students may withdraw from classes beginning Saturday of the first week of the term through the 8th Friday of Fall, Winter, and Spring terms; through the sixth Friday applies to Summer term.

There is no refund for a withdrawal and a grade of ‘W’ is noted on official student transcripts. The date the student withdraws is the official last date of attendance.

Incomplete

Incomplete grades are assigned at the discretion of the instructor when non-academic extenuating circumstances prevented a student from completing, but there is a reasonable expectation that the student can successfully complete the course (70% of course work complete). An incomplete is not a substitution for a failing grade. A contract detailing the conditions for completion of work is required and must be completed prior to the end of the term. An incomplete grade will not count towards academic warning but may affect Satisfactory Academic Progress and financial aid eligibility.

The default deadline for incomplete work to be submitted is automatically set to the end of the following term (excluding summer). If the requirements of the contract have been met, the instructor will assign the appropriate grade. If the requirements of the contract are not fulfilled by the deadline, the “I” grade will convert into the standing grade the instructor assigns at the end of the contract.
